Cardiac Screenings can save a life.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is life-threatening emergency that happens when the heart stops beating. It happens in people of all ages, including kids, and comes on with no warning. It’s NOT a heart attack – it’s a structural or electrical issue with the heart.
SCA can be fatal if it’s not treated immediately, but the best way to protect your child is through testing to determine risk for SCA.
Don’t miss your chance to have your student athlete screened for SCA. Giving Hearts a Hand in partnership with Decatur County Memorial Hospital Health Connect is offering low-cost, $15 screenings at Health Connect at the Decatur County YMCA on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.
Screening Details:
- Each student will receive an electrocardiogram (ECG) and limited echocardiogram performed by a registered cardiac sonographer
- Results are read by pediatric cardiologists
- Each test lasts around 10-12 minutes
- Images are stored in your secured account for future access
The screenings are sponsored by MCORE Foundation, a nationally-recognized non-profit dedicated to preventing SCA in youths and young adults through education, screening, and research, and funded by a generous donation from Giving Hearts a Hand.
